SeaRoc provides spatial data interpretation services to a wide range of clients. Our expert, experienced team interpret raw data and present it in the best possible way for ongoing analysis or decision making such as charts, maps, graphs and tables.

Throughout the lifecycle of the project, SeaRoc can produce regular and ad-hoc outputs to visualise a range of information, such as development constraints, planned activities and construction progress. SeaRoc provides detailed documentation of the process performed on each datasets.

SeaRoc has a proven track record of providing GIS, Data Management and CAD services and the team offers a wide and unique spectrum of services to meet the needs of offshore renewable projects; these services range from the development phase through to construction and operations & maintenance. These services have been developed over 10 years of project experience in the Offshore Renewable Energy sector. Our staff are highly qualified and experienced analysts, technicians, developers and marine survey specialists who design databases to capture and collate a wide range of data used throughout the lifecycle of a project to make best use of the client’s spatial data.

GIS Analysis

The range of analytical GIS services that SeaRoc can offer allows clients to maximise the value of their data holdings, enabling well-informed decisions to be made throughout the project lifecycle. These include:

  • Site selection and constraint analysis;
  • Weather window and downtime analysis;
  • Data gap analysis;
  • 3D geophysical survey analysis;
  • Pre- and post-installation seabed monitoring;
  • Asset siting and vessel positioning based on factors such as UXOs and exclusion zones.

Data Management

The efficient management of data ensures that value is retained, managed and communicated through all project stages and to all project teams and the provenance of all data is recorded and maintained. The following services can be provided from the initial planning stage of a project, through to construction and operations and maintenance:

  • Database Design & Management
    • The use of a well-structured, centralised database allows for effective data storage and access, ensuring that the correct information reaches the appropriate people at the right time;
    • Implementing a Data Management Strategy from the outset of a project prevents data loss between project stages and team changes, maximising the value of data holdings;
    • Ongoing maintenance of the database ensures the correct data is available to all project teams and stakeholders at all times.
  • Mapping
    • Regular and ad-hoc map production to visualise a range of information, such as development constraints, planned activities and construction progress.
  • Analysis
    • Site selection and constraint analysis;
    • Weather window and downtime analysis;

 CAD Services

SeaRoc utilizes the AutoCAD suite of software in order to meet client CAD requirements (both 2D and 3D). Specifically, SeaRoc has the capacity to provide the following types of CAD support:

  • Technical Drawings
    • Create new or revise existing CAD drawings, including design of new components and systems, ensuring that appropriate standards are adhered to;
    • Work completed alongside client project teams to generate drawings quickly and efficiently;
  • 3D Design and Visualisation
    • Construction of 3D models and visualisations from individual components to entire device designs;
    • Useful for the demonstration and presentation of concepts, methodologies and innovations.
  • Concept Storyboards and Videos
    • 3D modelling of a concept or methodology allows:
      • Creation of images, storyboards and videos to help contextualise ideas as clearly as possible;
      • Enhances the understanding and facilitates acceptance of new ideas.

Sharing

Large quantities of spatial data are generated at different phases of the projects. These data’s value is realised when disseminated to the right person in right format at the right time. SeaRoc maintains data integrity and ensures prompt access as and when required. Besides supplying PDF maps, SeaRoc’s online portal ensures access to the information 24/7. SeaRoc’s WebGIS allows simpler distribution of information through a secure, web-based portal.  Users can view project information, toggle visible data layers and interrogate features. The system can be updated regularly with the latest project data and associated reports.

Crown Estate Liaison

SeaRoc provides active support as The Crown Estate Liaison on behalf of clients ensuring that all lease obligations are met with regards the submission of project data and documents as per MEDIN standards.

Through the creation of a centralised database, SeaRoc has been able to ensure that all spatial information is in a single, central location ready for submission to The Crown Estate. Working closely with project teams, SeaRoc can obtain the data from the multiple sources involved and that the data are incorporated into the project database following careful quality control and managed appropriately. A thorough gap analysis highlights areas where further data may need to be collected or supplied.

A key support service provided by SeaRoc is the uploading of data and associated reports to The Crown Estate’s online data portal. These requirements and schedules are communicated by The Crown Estate using a project workbook, and this is used by SeaRoc to ensure all of the client’s obligations are met in a timely manner, while the upload of new datasets is also planned based on the requirements set in the workbook.
