DATA MANAGEMENT STRATEGY

SeaPlanner assist clients with developing a data management strategy early on in a project to maximise the value of data collected, ensure that it is managed and quality checked and that the relevant personnel are able to access it:

DATA COLLECTION

Throughout a project lifecycle, data will be collected from a wide range of sources with numerous data formats  encountered. SeaPlanner implements a robust data format specification which helps to cut down on data re-engineering time and ensures that stakeholders are given accurate information.

DATA STORAGE

SeaPlanner' has developed an industry specfic geodatabase structure to store project data. A quality plan is developed at the outset of the project to define responsibilities, quality standards, and acceptance criteria and to facilitate the smooth integration of procedures with the client's requirements.

Quality management of data, data delivery, storage and usage is controlled through ISO 9001 compliant procedures that are designed to be implemented and maintained by both the client and SeaPlanner personnel. These quality checks ensure that data remains compliant will all relevant standards, and that best practise guidelines for data management are followed. Once data is placed into SeaPlanner's geodatabase it should be easy to find, access and use due to the structured database architecture implemented.

Combined with this, the addition of metadata to all datasets ensure that data is easy to understand, and will therefore be utilised in the correct way.

DATA DISSEMINATION

Effective dissemination of data is is crucial on multistakeholder projects and can provide significant benefits for the safety and effeciency of the project.

There are a number of output options offered by SeaPlanner; data can be provided in either a raw or processed form, in a number of digital map or printed formats or integrated with SeaPlanner web applications.
