DATA MANAGEMENT

Offshore wind farms require the capture, storage, manipulation and use of large quantities of varied data throughout their lifecycle, from constraints and survey data at project conception / development, to turbine output data and post-construction survey data during operations.

SeaPlanner works with clients to develop a data management strategy based on a comprehensive plan for procurement, analysis, storage, quality control and display of data, with systems and services being designed to be flexible in responding to the client and project requirements.

We are focused on maximising the value of client's data assets by ensuring data is procured, stored and disseminated efficiently throughout the project lifecycle. This allows for data to be available to relevant users throughout the project lifecycle, while reducing staff time required in searching for, accessing and processing data.

To facilitate a lifecycle approach to data management SeaPlanner employs:

  • A central database for all project data
  • A robust database architecture which:
    • Is easily accessible
    • Stores data in a logical format and with common standards
    • Allows for storage of both project specific and wider portfolio data
  • Recording of all input and outputs to the database
  • A secured backup system to ensure data protection

Considering data management throughout the project lifecycle also supports a ‘lessons learnt' approach; this approach can reduce project risk by considering where improvements to methodologies and practice can be made based upon previous experience.
